The Real Van Gogh: The Artist and His Letters

The Royal Academy of Arts presents a landmark exhibition of the work of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890).

The focus of the exhibition is the artist’s remarkable correspondence.

I went to this exhibition on friday, there is a really long queue and alot of people

inside the exhibition.

I have to confession that is a painful to ask me to read every sentences on the wall.

But for that reason, i used to search more information about the show or the artist.

In this exhibition, i see a lot of Van gogh's drawing and it really touching me.

But it is a sham that i cant see the " Starry nigh" and "Cafe Terrace".

In the afternoon, we have some exercises,

Rachel asked us to created a story or a game or anything you want to draw about.

meanwhile, she ask everyone to draw a page in the same paper without seeing the last image and see what will comes out. That is really fun.

We only use black and purple pen for the whole

page, its a game for kids to find the animal which can

be pet in our home.

We draw all kids of animals we can imagine.

Today we shows our mini origami book to every and got the feedback,

Everyone do a good job and have different style.

My friend is working at KALID edition, and i am being her assistant.

Its a gallery about books, i am very enjoy the time stay there,

i can see a lot of different creative books and lovely works, and got inspire.

I went there every Saturday, if she need my help. This week, the gallery is

prepare an new exhibition about a graphic designer, he has design a lot of

books, most of them are layout of the pages, so the idea is to take out some pages

for showing his design more easily.

For that reason, we try to broke down the books very carefully try to keep the pages clean.

Origami book

For the Okido project,

I got a mini projetc: Origami book.

At the first i try to draw somethings and find the style that i want to present.

After that, I choose the teeth topic from my research book: "Pick me up".

In my origami book, its talk about:

"what would happen if we did not clean our teeth every day?"

1. You'd have to wear false teeth.

2. You'd only be able to eat soup.

3. Your face would change shape.

4. You'd make funny noises when you tried to talk.

also i draw the picture how to brush the teeth at the end.

I was bought some letterpress letter from the market,

and i think i can do some work at home,

so i want to uni art shop to bought some tool and printing ink.

Also i bought a cutter that can cut with the perforation blade.

This idea is from the portfolio showcase workshop,

one student show us her work and cut with this perforation blade, and

you can tear off a part of her work.

I think that is really attract me!!

Portfolio Sharing/Tutorial

This is a meeting in UAL Taiwanese society, the topic is Portfolio Review.

Its for the foundation student going to apply BA course at March.

Can bring their portfolio and discus with people and have some comment.

I was there to sharing my experience for my interview and

some feedback about their portfolio.

I am very happy to talk about the problem i got when i apply

the course and the solution, also let the student understand more

about the course i done before and the course i am doing now.

By share the experience and people's work is really interesting and give me lots of

idea about working process and influence me some new idea.

I MAKE MY CASE

This web got a very good interative idea and function.
They got several different designer and each designer has design a case model,
you can choese the one you like and design with your own case with the elements.
At the end, you can free to save the image and post it on your personal blog to share with everyone, also can order your design case to make it real.

Here is the idea about my book cover,
my topic is "Exposing Secrets", so i am thinking
of that a hand is opened the corned of book.
Jusk like going to show you some thing.

About the back ground, i used the Selfridge's paper back.
But i dont want to show my content when people first time saw the book,
therefore i cover the logo on the bag, also the yellow represent the Selfridge,
so i think the logo dont really need to show on the cover.







inside the bag, i used the image of Selfridge's window display.

I think the mark doesnt looks good on top of the left hand side corner.

so, i moved it on the bottom.

This is the final decision.
